Janet is a Miracle -- Email from 27 April 2015

This week was good. We worked hard. We taught 38 lessons with a member present and 6 other lessons so that was good. Miguel and his family couldn’t go to the chapel and I hope that they can this next week or we won’t be able to work more with them. It’s alright with me because there are a ton of people in the villa and every day we are finding new people to teach.

Stephanie, Maria and their dad.
This week we found a girl that is a miracle. Her name is Janet and she is 19. She moved here from Bolivia about one month ago, and she felt lonely. She lives with her aunt and uncle, and they are going to a different church. She decided to pray for help because she wanted to find a church that she should join, and prayed for help to know what church is true. That day after she prayed she was walking the park and found two missionaries from our ward. They invited her to go to church and she went and loved it. They took down her address and she was in our area so they passed us the reference and we went Saturday to see her. She accepted a baptismal date for this Sunday the third and went last Sunday again. She is a miracle and I am very grateful to have this opportunity to teach her.
i went and played soccer with the zone while my companion sat on the sidelines.   And then after that we went to eat.

Love you all

Investigators -- Email from 20 April 2015

This week was pretty good. We worked hard and had a good time. We taught 32 lessons with a member and 14 without members present. We are upping all of our numbers. We decided to stop working with Brian, José and Sergio and we left them so we could use our time to work hard and find other people who are more prepared to accept the gospel right now. For like two days we didn’t have anyone that we were working with, but then a member introduced us to the family Ramirez. They are a family of four with Paula and Alfredo as the parents and Miguel as a 15 year old son, and another boy that is 6. They are doing well progressing and we are going to baptize the three the 3rd of May. Also we are working with a woman called Janet that has a baptismal date the 3rd of May too.

I can’t believe that it already is Monday again. I feel like I have nothing to say ha-ha. I don’t know how the week has passed so fast, or how we are here again on Monday. The days are just going way to fast and it’s crazy. We don’t have transfers for another two weeks so you guys don’t need to worry about that yet. Next Monday is a Monday normal so I will be writing Monday like normal. I have a couple of questions. Mom, are you exercising 3 times a week and reading your scriptures? Are you guys having family prayer and scripture study every night? When do mom and Emily head for Europe? What day is mother’s day so I know when we are supposed to call? Dad, what’s the next car you’re going to flip? Are you two praying together every night? That’s all that I’ve got for today. I hope that everything goes well with you all and that you have a good week!

Esta Semana (This week) -- Email from 13 April 2015

This week was good.   It had its ups and downs but in the end it was really good.  We have been working really hard and trying to be obedient and happy.  Actually, this is the fastest transfer I have had in the mission yet.  We are headed into week four and I can’t even believe it.  We have transfers on the 5th of May, and hopefully we can baptize a couple more before then.  Also, I really would like to stay in my area.  I don't want to leave my little villa haha.  I want one more transfer here before I have to go to another area.  I hope that elder Gabriaguez and I get another transfer together because we get along great and we are doing good work.

Yesica, her 3 year old, Elder Gabriaguez and me.
As for this week we were working really hard to find new families and meet new people and we were also working with Brian, Jose, and Yesica.  The day of Sunday they were all going to get baptized together but Jose had to go out of town so we rescheduled for the next week.  Then, Brian got cold feet and didn't want to baptize and then we convinced him again, but his mom called when we were changing to our white clothes and told us that she doesn't want him baptized even though we talked to her 2 days before and she said that she would support him.  It’s crazy to see the things that Satan does to keep people from making the best decision of their lives or baptism.  But Yesica was baptized!  She is 18 and the older sister of Brian.  She was so excited for her baptism.  Also she has a kid that's 3.  Here is a picture of all of us!   Next week Jose should get baptized.  All is going well here.

As for the weather, some days are hot and some days are cool but most days it’s mixed.
I started eating a little more (dinner every night), and it’s been going good.  I got your money and the money from grandma.  In like three more weeks it would be awesome if you could send more haha.  The exchange rate is double if I have the dollar in hand.  I started eating dinners ever night so that is where the money is going.  I can trade the 50 for 670 pesos and it’s like 60 pesos for 3 pounds of chicken breast.  Ever week I spend like 200 pesos on food but the mission covers most of it when they send me 1100 pesos every month.

We have transfers in two weeks and hopefully I get to stay in this area again.

Love you all
